CITRUS LIMONUM – Lemon, Italy
This is another oil that should be in your first aid kit and in your purse. When traveling, especially to places where you are not sure of the quality of the water, a drop or two will kill the nasties. Those musty motel rooms always get a spritz with lemon and lavender; especially the pillows, bedding and bathroom! For skin care it is especially good for oily, over-active conditions. It cleanses, refreshes, cools and stimulates. Like orange, it can be used to brighten sluggish skin. Lemon is used in all of my nail, cuticle and hand treatments. Use it with peppermint and sage for a cooling foot bath and if you have a problem with smelly, sweaty feet add a drop or two of cypress. I like fresh lemon in my tea with honey. The other evening the lemons were gone and I didn’t want to brave the cold to go to the store, so I added a drop of lemon to honey in a big spoon, blended it well, and then added it to my hot tea. It was heavenly! Try making some fresh lemonade with a few drops of essential oil added to the honey, instead of sugar.
