“Chakra” is a Sanskrit word meaning wheel of light. Chakras are centers of energy within the body. On a physical level, these centers, located in front of the spinal
column, collect pranic (life force) energy as it flows through the body
and release negative energy that is stored in the body. Each major chakra is
associated with specific organs within the body.
On a spiritual
level, chakras are said to be the doorways to the subconscious. Within each chakra is held the seed to higher consciousness.
A healthy chakra is
considered “balanced”. When a
chakra is “blocked” or out of balance, it can affect our physical, mental,
emotional and spiritual well-being. The
free flowing energy that is
necessary for total health and vitality is disturbed.
Learning to work with the chakras through color, sound, aromas, visualization or meditation will
assist us in taking control of our own personal awareness and self-knowing, thus
transforming our energy flow and our lives.
